World Sloth Bear Day

OCT 10, 2026

Celebrate World Sloth Bear Day at the Zoo!

Sloth bears are one of the most distinctive bear species in the world, known for their shaggy fur, long claws, and unique feeding habits. Native to the forests of the Indian subcontinent, sloth bears play an important role in their ecosystems by feeding on insects and fruits, helping to maintain plant and insect populations. However, they are facing threats from habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict.

Join us as we Celebrate World Sloth Bear Day and learn more about these fascinating creatures and the conservation efforts working to protect them.

Fun Fact: Mother sloth bears carry their babies on their backs for 2-3 years.
