World Rhino Day

SEP 19, 2026
Celebrate World Rhino Day at the Zoo!

Did you know that rhinos have thick skin to protect them from predators, but it’s also very sensitive? Or that the white rhino is the largest species, weighing up to 5,000 pounds? Rhinos are some of the most iconic and endangered animals on Earth, and they provide benefits such as seed dispersal and landscape maintenance. With only a handful of species remaining, rhinos are facing threats like habitat loss and poaching. The Little Rock Zoo is proud to care for these magnificent creatures and raise awareness about their conservation. Visit the Zoo to learn more!

Fun Fact: A rhino’s horn is made of keratin, the same material as human hair and fingernails.
