World Elephant Day

AUG 8, 2026
Celebrate World Elephant Day with us!

Our history is deeply connected to elephants here at the Little Rock Zoo, dating back to 1937 when Ruth—our very first elephant—arrived. Since then, we’ve remained committed to their care, well-being, and conservation.

Join us on World Elephant Day to meet our elephants, learn how we care for them each day, explore our conservation efforts, and discover how you can help protect these remarkable animals for generations to come.

Fun Fact: Elephants can use their trunks as a snorkel to breathe while submerged in water.

Elephants have been part of the Little Rock Zoo family since 1937, discover their journeys in Legacy of Giants, where we celebrate these incredible animals and the stories that shaped their time here.
