The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a free, fun, and easy event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Spend as little as 15 minutes (or as long as you like) counting the birds you see and report your sightings online at birdcount.org.
Fun Fact: Songbirds use magnetic fields to help them navigate during migration.
Everyone can join in—from beginners to experts, anywhere in the world. The information collected helps researchers learn more about bird populations and how to protect them, so your observations really make a difference!
You don’t need Zoo admission to join the count, but we’d love for you to join us for special activities on February 14.
Schedule of Activities: Saturday, February 14, 2026
10:00- 12:00 Educational table with activities
Activities included with regular admission.
