FEB 13-17, 2026
Admission is not required to participate, but you are encouraged to join us for activities on February 14.
The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a free, fun, and easy event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Spend as little as 15 minutes (or as long as you like) counting the birds you see and report your sightings online at birdcount.org.
Fun Fact: Songbirds use magnetic fields to help them navigate during migration.
Everyone can join in—from beginners to experts, anywhere in the world. The information collected helps researchers learn more about bird populations and how to protect them, so your observations really make a difference! Backyard birds bring color, song, pollination, seed dispersal, and natural pest control to our neighborhoods. Many face challenges from habitat loss, window collisions, and lack of food or water sources. You can help by planting native trees and flowers, providing clean water, keeping feeders and birdbaths safe and clean, and reducing window strikes with decals.
Join us to celebrate and enjoy special activities while learning more about the birds right here in our backyards!
