Zoo to Temporarily Close Next Week Due to Weather Forecast
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 22, 2026) – Due to next week’s excessive heat forecast, the Little Rock Zoo will be closed Sunday, July 26 to Saturday, August 1, 2026. The Zoo will reopen on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with normal operating hours. The decision to limit outdoor exposure during these dangerously hot days was made for the well-being of staff, guests and animals. Little Rock Zoo Resolves Hoax Threat
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (June 19, 2026) – The Little Rock Zoo received a non-credible bomb threat shortly after opening at 9:33AM on Friday morning. The Zoo immediately enacted its bomb threat protocol that includes calling emergency services, setting a perimeter, and initiating a search of the property. The threat was found to be non-credible and was quickly resolved. The Zoo resumed normal operations shortly thereafter. Little Rock Police remain onsite out of an abundance of caution. Zoo Introduces Capybara Art Sculptures in Celebration of Capybara Return
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (June 2, 2026) – The Little Rock Zoo is celebrating the return of capybaras to the Zoo with the introduction of 22 interactive art sculptures that made their debut this week on Zoo grounds. The real live capybaras will make their return to the Zoo when the Zoo completes the new Project Zoo: Wildly Reimagined construction project set to open soon. In the meantime, guests can help celebrate the return of capybaras by interacting with 22 lively art sculptures placed all over Zoo grounds.
