LITTLE ROCK (March 4, 2026) – Make the most of Spring Break with a visit to the Little Rock Zoo! We’ve packed the week with extra fun and special activities for the whole family.

Join Us for the Debut of Bugtopia: Wonder Magnified!
Opening March 21st, just in time for Spring Break, get ready to experience BIG BUGS!
Climb, play, and learn among larger-than-life sculptures and animatronic insects in this hands-on adventure. Guests of all ages can explore the fascinating world beneath our feet, discover how bugs live and thrive, and enjoy interactive experiences that bring the miniature world to life.
Bugtopia is included with Zoo admission— and is the perfect way to add a little extra “wow” to your Spring Break visit.
A Quick Note About Construction—There’s Still Plenty to See!
You may notice things look a little different when you arrive. We’re busy building new and exciting exhibits for the future, which means portions of the entry plaza are under construction. While some areas may appear blocked off, the Zoo is fully open, and there’s still plenty to see and do once you’re inside!
Pathway Updates
- Great Apes: Access is available through the entrance next to the orangutans. You can still see all of the great ape habitats—including orangutans, chimpanzees, and gorillas—before returning the way you came.
- Lemurs: The Lemurs have been temporarily relocated to the Colobus Monkey Habitat while their exhibit is updated. They are not sharing space with the Colobus Monkeys but may be visible there, especially in the afternoons.
- The Overlook Path: This walkway, between Penguin Pointe and Cheetah Outpost, is currently closed. While a portion of the path is temporarily inaccessible, guests can still view the cheetahs and maned wolves from the Cheetah Outpost viewing decks. Cheetah Outpost remains open but cannot be accessed from this pathway—guests will need to enter from the opposite side near Big Cats.

Thanks for Growing With Us
These temporary changes are all part of creating an even better experience for guests and animals alike. We appreciate your patience as we grow, and we’re excited to share this Spring Break—and the Zoo’s future—with you.

2. Keep Your Group Together
Nothing puts a damper on a great day like getting separated from your group! Before arriving at the Zoo, snap a quick picture of your kids or group members so you have a recent photo to show Zoo staff if needed. Pro tip: Groups wearing matching outfits or colors are easier to spot, making it faster to reunite if someone wanders off!
Additionally, you can write your phone number on a wristband for your kids—allowing Zoo staff to get in touch with you in the event they become separated from your group. Wristbands will be available at stations in the entry plaza or ask the ticket attendant for one when purchasing your tickets at the gate.
3. Map Out the Fun
Check out the Zoo Map before you arrive and plan your must-see exhibits. Knowing your top priorities will help you maximize your time. Don’t forget to take breaks to cool off and stay hydrated!
Café Africa, the Cheetah Outpost Building, and sections of the Reptile House are equipped with air conditioning, providing you with a comfortable place to relax and cool off.
4. Pack Smart
Be prepared for a full day of outdoor fun! Since the Zoo is an outdoor venue, check the weather forecast ahead of time and dress accordingly. Feel free to bring a reusable water bottle, we have several water stations for refilling throughout the Zoo.
Don’t forget these essentials:
- Sunscreen
- Reusable water bottles
- Sunglasses
- Comfortable walking shoes
- A hat or lightweight jacket (spring weather can be unpredictable!)
Reminder: Ice chests and outside food or drinks — except for reusable water bottles — aren’t allowed inside the Zoo.
5. Catch an Animal Keeper Chat or Feeding
We’ve packed the week with extra fun and special activities for the whole family! In addition to our daily Keeper Chats and Feedings, be sure to catch special pop-up experiences happening throughout the Zoo. Look for the “Meet Here” signs to find these surprise encounters.

Nature Playground & Play Zones: With several play areas located throughout the Zoo, kids have plenty of space to climb, explore, and burn off energy—while you take a well-earned break.
7. Enjoy Seasonal Treats
Stop by Café Africa to cool off or grab a snack! Our snack stands also offer great options to help you stay refreshed and hydrated as you explore.
8. Respect the Animals
While exploring, please follow Zoo guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone, including our animal residents! That means staying on pathways, avoiding tapping on glass, and never feeding the animals. Also, remember to keep voices low—yelling or making loud noises can stress the animals and cause them to retreat. Staying calm and quiet is the best way to observe animals and make the most out of your visit!
