Celebrate World Binturong Day at the Zoo!
Binturongs play an important role in forest ecosystems as major seed dispersers, helping regenerate tropical forests as they move through the canopy. However, they face growing threats from habitat loss, deforestation, and illegal wildlife trade.
You can help protect them by choosing sustainably sourced products (like certified sustainable palm oil or ethical shade-grown coffee), supporting rainforest conservation organizations, and making eco-friendly choices at home. Visit the Zoo to learn how we’re helping protect species like binturongs and their habitats.
Fun Fact: Binturongs are one of two carnivorous (meat-eating) species with a prehensile (grasping) tail.
