Cheetah Outpost offers a variety of opportunities to discover fascinating species! Guests can observe the cooperative underground world of naked mole rats, learn about the unique adaptations of porcupines, and encounter reptiles such as radiated tortoises, known for their striking shell patterns and long lifespans. Together, these species highlight the diversity of wildlife found across African ecosystems.
Cheetahs Can’t Win Without Us!
Cheetahs are the ultimate sprinters of the African savanna, capable of reaching 60 mph in short bursts. With their sleek bodies, black spots, and tear-shaped facial markings, they’re built for speed—long legs, a flexible spine, and cleat-like claws make them unstoppable hunters. Yet, these incredible cats face threats like habitat loss and poaching. Through educational programs and partnerships with organizations like the Cheetah Conservation Fund, the Little Rock Zoo helps raise awareness and protect cheetahs in the wild.

Through the fundraising support of the Arkansas Zoological Foundation, Cheetah Outpost was brought to the Zoo and continues to serve as an impactful experience for guests.
Since 2003, the Arkansas Zoological Foundation has helped make projects like Cheetah Outpost, Penguin Pointe, the Diamond Express Train, and the Arkansas Heritage Farm, a reality—transforming the Zoo into a place where animals thrive and visitors connect with wildlife in meaningful ways.
The Foundation is currently raising funds for the Zoo’s new front entrance project, Project Zoo: Wildly Reimagined, which will feature exciting new exhibits and guest experiences. Your continued support makes these milestones possible and helps the Little Rock Zoo grow, inspire, and protect wildlife for generations to come.
