World Penguin Day

APR 25, 2026
Waddle Over for World Penguin Day at the Zoo!

World Penguin Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the conservation of penguins, including the critically endangered African penguin.

They face various threats, such as habitat loss, overfishing, climate change, and pollution. They help keep oceans and coasts healthy by hunting small fish at sea, feeding predators like sharks and seals, and transferring nutrients back to land. Visit the Zoo to learn about the conservation efforts we participate in and how you can make a difference!

Fun Fact: There are more warm weather penguin species (like our African penguins) than there are cold weather penguin species.
