Centennial Celebration

Little Rock Zoo Celebrates a Century of Conservation & Education
Join us in celebrating a century of wildlife and wonder at the Little Rock Zoo! From its humble beginnings in 1924 with just two animals—a timber wolf and a brown bear—the Little Rock Zoo has evolved into one of Arkansas’s greatest treasures. Beyond being a beloved family attraction, the Little Rock Zoo has emerged as a vital educational and conservation resource.
As we mark this momentous milestone, we invite you to join us in reflecting on a century of growth, conservation, and the enduring magic of the animal kingdom. On your next visit, be sure to keep an eye out for our Wild Look Back signs placed throughout the Zoo, highlighting historic buildings and areas with a glimpse into their past.
Or take a walk through time by visiting the Centennial Timeline Display, located next to the indoor primate viewing area in the Historic Reptile & Tropical Bird House. This special exhibit showcases key milestones, historic photos, and memorable moments from the Zoo’s 100-year journey—highlighting the animals, people, and stories that helped shape the Little Rock Zoo into what it is today.
