Gorillas On the Line

The Little Rock Zoo is working with Eco-Cell to recycle cell phones, help the environment, and raise money for gorilla conservation. Zoos and aquariums across the continent will be collecting mobile phones for gorilla conservation!

Why are we collecting cell phones for gorillas?

Many handheld electronics are made with coltan, which is mined in wild gorilla habitat.  So, recycling old phones/electronics helps to decrease the need for new mining.  At the same time, recycling raises money to directly support gorilla conservation initiatives through Gorilla SAFE programs. All proceeds from donated devices sent to Eco-Cell will be sent to the Gorilla SAFE program. Money raised will help with habitat protection, monitoring, education about gorilla conservation and more! Gorillas are on the line. Join us to answer the call and help save gorillas in the wild!

How can you help? 

Do you have old cell phones, tablets, or small tech accessories lying around? The Little Rock Zoo is collecting select small electronics as part of the Gorillas on the Line, a campaign run by the AZA Gorilla SAFE to recycle electronic devices and support gorilla conservation in the wild.

Drop off your items at the collection box located in the Zoo’s front entry plaza. No ticket is required to participate. Donations are accepted year-round!

✅ We Accept the following items:

• Cell phones

• Tablets

• E-readers

• MP3 players and iPods

• Smartwatches

• Chargers, cords, and accessories for the above devices

❌ We Cannot Accept:

Laptops, keyboards, alarm systems, and other large or unrelated electronics.
Please take those items to the City of Little Rock’s Green Station for proper recycling.
