Latest Milestones in Our Master Plan
In the summer of 2025, the Little Rock Zoo broke ground on Project Zoo: Wildly Reimagined, a transformative initiative that will redefine the guest experience from the moment you step inside the Zoo. This ambitious project reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a more vibrant, welcoming, and engaging Zoo for both visitors and our animal residents.
What’s Coming to Your Zoo
We’re updating and expanding several key habitats to bring you closer to the animals you love. This transformation will bring a range of enhancements designed to elevate the guest experience and support animal care, including:
- A reimagined entry plaza with two water features, sculpture, and an updated design
- Three updated animal buildings with indoor dayroom viewing
- A refreshed lemur habitat with improved guest visibility
- A brand-new home for our giant anteaters
- The return of capybaras to the Little Rock Zoo
- A new species: squirrel monkeys!
- A relocated Aldabra tortoise habitat with new opportunities for guest interaction
A Bold Vision for the Future
The Zoo Board of Governors approved the master plan for the growth and development of the Little Rock Zoo. This Master Plan was created in partnership between The Little Rock Zoo, Jackson Brown Palculict Architects and GLMVZoos. It is intended to be the roadmap for growth and development for the next 10-20 years. It outlines renovations and updates to several Zoo facilities and provides thematic concepts for how we meet our mission to inspire people to value and conserve our natural world. This is a living document and is revisited by the Zoo to ensure its execution and accuracy.
