LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 19, 2026) – The Little Rock Zoo announced the official launch of its new podcast “That’s Wild,” a fun, engaging conversation all about animals, conservation, and other science news.
Little Rock Zoo Director, Susan Altrui, and Marketing Director Joy Matlock host “That’s Wild!” featuring curious animal facts, conservation news and all the behind-the-scenes things you’ve always wanted to know about the Little Rock Zoo.
“That’s Wild” explores topics about our local community and world and how animals make an impact every day. Guests have included some of the zoo’s own animal staff who work to conserve and care for animals, as well as guests such as paleontologist Dr., Jessica Scott, discussing animals from the past. Other guests have included Craig O’Niell discussing the zoo’s 100th Anniversary and cultural reporter and sports broadcaster, Rex Nelson, discussing the impacts of cultural attractions.
“That’s Wild” also features amazing live animal guests from the Little Rock Zoo including newborn penguin chicks, birds of prey, reptiles, and other creatures that capture the audience’s fascination and have you saying, “That’s Wild!” All animal guests teach the audience the importance of conservation and how all of us contribute to saving wildlife and wild places.
“We want every episode to leave the listener walking away thinking ‘That’s Wild!’ to themselves and, more importantly, to a friend or family member. Listeners should expect conversations that are laid back, enlightening, and at times…a little wild,” said Zoo Director Susan Altrui.
“My personal goal with this podcast is to provide a space for listeners to know and understand that not only is the Little Rock Zoo a family-centered place focused on conservation, but it is also a scientific learning institution participating in international and national research and data collection that impacts conservation world-wide. Our staff includes highly educated professionals with comprehensive experience who help to maintain the well-being of our animal collection daily. I am extremely proud of us,” said Ms. Matlock
