National Pig Day at the Little Rock Zoo
Celebrate National Pig Day with us on March 1, as we recognize the important role pigs play in ecosystems, agriculture, and culture around the world! 🐷 This special day highlights the intelligence, charm, and unique contributions of pigs, reminding us to appreciate these remarkable animals.
Wild pig species support our ecosystems in their search for food by rooting and softening the soil for new plants to grow. As they eat and pass vegetation, seeds are dispersed, which helps to support diverse plant populations. However, wild pig species face threats such as habitat loss, hunting, and human-wildlife conflict.
