The Zoo Crew is a dedicated group of service volunteers with many different talents and interests. Zoo Crew members make all of our special events and fundraisers possible; whether serving as a bartender at Wild Wines of the World, leading arts and crafts activities with children, handing out water and bananas to runners at Cheetah Chase, and much, much more!
Zoo Crew volunteers do not have a structured schedule, but volunteer whenever they're available!
The Little Rock Zoo has several volunteer opportunities to chose from:
Woo at the Zoo
Woo at the Zoo is a fun look at the hysterical world of animal mating behavior. Woo is an adults-only, after hours, event held at the Zoo where guests get a special tour and hear keeper chats all about animal courtship.
Did you know a male spider will present a female spider with a gift to woo her? Or, how about the fact that lemur
males "stink fight" for the affection of females? Guests learn these fun facts and more at Woo at the Zoo!
Zoo Crew volunteers serve as bartenders and help with guest check-in.
Volunteers for Woo at the Zoo must be over the age of 21.
Wild Wines of the World & More
Wild Wines of the World & More is a premier fundraiser of the Little Rock Zoo featuring dozens of wines from around the globe, paired with exquisite global cuisine from some of the area's finest dining establishments.
Zoo Crew volunteers serve as bartenders and help with guest check-in. Volunteers for Woo at the Zoo must be over the age of 21.
The Cheetah Chase is a 5K race and 1M family fun walk in celebration of the Little Rock Zoo's new cheetah
exhibit! The 5K starts in front of the Zoo and takes runners through War Memorial Park and the Hillcrest Neighborhood and ends back at the Zoo.
Zoo Crew volunteers help with set-up, monitor the finish line, register runners, and pass out water and snacks to the runners.
Zoo Brew is a frothy celebration like no other at the Little Rock Zoo! Guests get the chance to sample dozens of beers and listen to the tunes of one of the hottest cover bands around. Zoo Brew takes place in and around Cafe Africa and the Civitan Pavilion, rain or shine! Local food vendors are also on hand.
Zoo Crew volunteers are needed to help with set-up and to serve as beer pourers the night of the event.
Boo at the Zoo Halloween Festival
Boo at the Zoo is held the last two weeks of October, and is Arkansas' largest Halloween festival. As the Zoo's largest event, it takes over 1,000 volunteers to make it happen! General volunteer positions include candy set-up, passing out candy at treat stations, helping children at Kid's Corner and other areas, crowd interaction, and behind-the-scenes work.
Volunteers for Boo at the Zoo need to be available for the duration of the evening's events, arriving at 5:00 PM and staying until approximately 9:30 (or until guests leave). Volunteers may wear a non-scary costume, but it is not required. Costumes can be as simple or as extravagant as you like.
Animal Birthday Parties
The Zoo invites guests to an animal birthday celebration at least once a year.
Zoo Crew volunteers are needed to serve cake and ice cream to guests.
