What do they eat?

Most animals at the Little Rock Zoo can be listed in one of the four groups below. These groups are determined by what an animal mostly eats.

  1. omnivore- an animal that mostly eats plants and meat
  2. carnivore- an animal that mostly eats meat
  3. herbivore- an animal that eats plants
  4. insectivore- an animal that mostly eats insects

 5. What does a deer eat? Leaves, fruit, vines and grasses
 6. What does an otter eat? Fish, frogs, small mammals and insects
 7. What does a giraffe eat? Leaves, shrubs, vines and herbs
 8. What does a maned wolf eat? Small mammals, reptiles, birds, and some fruit
 9. What does an eagle eat? Fish, small mammals and waterfowl
10. What do frogs eat? insects

These foods are what these animals eat in the wild. The animals at the zoo may eat some different foods than what is listed above. The zookeepers feed the animals the nutrients they need. A lot of the zoo animals get their nutrients from human produced foods. Foods just like your dog or cat may eat.
