Zoo Announces Penguin Naming Contest

LITTLE ROCK (February 6, 2013) – The
Little Rock Zoo announced today the top three names in the contest to name its
baby penguin and opened voting for the name on its Facebook page.
Members of the public were
invited to submit entries to name the Zoo’s new baby penguin born October 30,
2012. Keepers asked that names be
appropriate for a male and be ocean themed. Names were submitted through the
Zoo’s website at LittleRockZoo.com, during the Zoo’s World Penguin Day
celebration held January 20, and on the Zoo’s Facebook fan page.
Penguin keepers sifted through
more than 2,300 submissions and selected the top three finalists for the baby’s
Voting officially opened today on
the Zoo’s Facebook fan page and will end at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13,
